Look for a positive solution

To the Editor:

If the people who are spending so much time and effort complaining about truck parking would use half that much effort to offer up some solutions, it would be a more mature and positive approach instead of being so negative.

People don't want semi trucks on "their streets," but yet they couldn't live two weeks without using something that was delivered by a truck.

If you're thankful for those items, be glad there are people who must go through so much to deliver these goods to or near you.

The trucking industry has changed over the past few decades. It is a growing business that will continue to flourish because people are dependent on trucks to get things delivered.

It also helps keep a lot of people employed.

If you want an alternative plan, try designating a truck route and improve the streets on that route to handle more than 15,000 pounds. Give a little to get a little.

The idea of a truck stop was shot down because people fear the "riffraff" it will attract. By keeping it small-scale it will eliminate that problem.

The man who has a seven-acre solution to the problem should not have to wonder about the freedom he has to use his property. It's an income he could use. Let him make his living, too.
