Terry and Julie Deines hosted a birthday party Saturday evening for their daughter Makenzie's eighth birthday. Guests were her brother Dylan and sister Carly, Mervin and Leona Deines, Jeff and Gayla Deines, Jessica, Shelby, and Justin, Ross and Debbie Coup, Samantha and Adam of Hope, Charles and Yvonne Miller of Herington, and Weldon and Rosemary Deines, Christina and Macie of Herington.

Jolene Albrecht and her daughters Kallie and Morgan of Salina were Friday evening guests of her parents, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu.

I asked Alex Stuchlik Monday if he would fix one of my kitchen chairs. He picked it up Tuesday morning. In the afternoon when he brought it back, he also carried in a small radio. I heard polka music. He knows I like it. We listened to it until one o'clock.

Larry Rudolph was here Friday evening. He visited his sister, Mary Black, and had supper with her and the boys in Herington. En route home, he stopped and brought me some groceries.

Jennifer Braden and son, Joshua of Windom were Saturday afternoon and supper guests of Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu. Additional guests were Fred and Marguerite Utech.

Mary Helen Black and sons, Micky and Lance of Herington, Larry Rudolph, and Mike and Karen Walsh and daughter, Renee attended the wedding ceremony of Mr. and Mrs. Shane McElroy of El Dorado Saturday at St. Vincent Catholic Church at Andover. They also stayed for the reception. Shane is a son of Connie McElroy Hastings, El Dorado.

I received a telephone call Saturday morning from my niece, Gay Zell. She was in Wichita attending and participating in a bowling tournament. She was flying back to her home Monday at Shelby, Mont.

Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob and Jorge of Hillsboro stopped at Junior and Jeanetta Hanschus' home Saturday evening en route to their home after doing some fishing.

Douglas Strecker, Hesston, brought me home from Herington hospital Sunday after lunch. He mowed my lawn and stayed for a fried chicken supper.

Leona Deines said the men were busy working on 120 cows and the small calves to take them to the pastures.

John Christner of Abilene visited Monday with Larry Rudolph.

Irma and Bob Reznicek accompanied Mary Loewen to Derby Thursday evening to attend Jennifer Torline's confirmation at St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Derby. Others who attended were John and Helen Reznicek of rural Marion, John Torline's sisters, Beth and Joan. They enjoyed cake and ice cream after the confirmation at the Torline home. Jennifer opened her gifts.

Irma and Bob Reznicek attended Taylor Heitfield's first communion Sunday at St. John Catholic Church in Herington. Later they joined other relatives and friends at the home of Troy and Robyn Heitfield in Herington to celebrate Drake Heitfield's birthday and for a cookout.
