I accompanied Selma Ingram to Hillsboro April 25 where she applied for a job at Parkside Homes. We also did some shopping. Helen Ambrey, a nurse at Parkside, took us on a tour of the nursing area, House Four, and House Five. It truly is beautiful. She also introduced us to two residents who I happened to remember from several years back.
Bob Reznicek accompanied his brother, John and Helen Reznicek of Marion to Mulvane April 25 where they attended the confirmation of Megan Torline, daughter of John and Lori Torline of Derby at St. Michael Catholic Church. Mary Loewen of Hillsboro was her sponsor. Charles and Mary Loewen were at the confirmation and they joined Bob, John, and Helen and other relatives and friends for pie and coffee at Derby afterward.
Selma Ingram accompanied Linda Green to Council Grove Friday and Monday afternoon to attend soccer games. Centre won the game Monday evening.
Douglas Strecker of Hesston was at my place Saturday, getting two new front tires put on my lawn mower. He mowed my lawn then ate dinner here alone as I accompanied Dollye Novak to Junction City to attend the 4th District American Legion and Auxiliary convention. The post commander and past presidents' luncheon and join session was held at the post home. Department president Gwen Frost was a speaker. Karen Smith of Alta Vista, Lela Mae Knipp of Westmoreland, and Lorene Oppy of Manhattan were reelected as president, vice president, and secretary-treasurer. Dorothy Gallaway of Dwight was elected historian; Velora Goss of Dwight as chaplain, and Myrna Wood of Peabody was reelected as sergeant at arms. I gave my unit president's report and served on the rules committee. The officers of our unit for 2007-08 are Evelyn Strecker, president; Dollye Novak, secretary and chaplain; and Hallie Novak, treasurer.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik went to the Tampa American Legion polka dance April 29 at Pilsen Community Center. Bill and Dollye Novak and Doc Robert and Hallie Novak also attended.
Mike and Chevon Doll of Missouri, are the proud parents of their first baby, Emily Lauren Doll, born April 26. She weighed seven pounds four ounces. Grandparents are Alan Beisel of Wichita and Alice Johnson of Florence. Great-grandparents are Don and Ramona Beisel of Tampa. Frances Stuchlik is her great-great-grandmother. Don and Ramona Beisel spent the weekend with Mike and Chevon Doll and Emily Lauren.
Kenny and Melinda Stuchlik of Towanda visited Frances Stuchlik Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning when they went to Manhattan to visit their three children, Matthew, Jason, and Alecia, who attend Kansas State University. They also visited Melinda's brother, Dale and Raschelle Fox.
