Jeff and Jennifer Braden of Windom hosted a birthday party Aug. 4 for their son, Joshua's fifth birthday. Children played games before supper. Birthday cake was decorated like a construction site. After supper and blowing out the candles, Joshua opened his gifts. There was another birthday cake for grandma, Jeanetta Hanschu. Guests were Fred and Marguerite Utech, Gary and Kathy Braden, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxson, Jolene Albrecht, Kallie, Morgan, and Landon, Jim Braden, and friends.
Douglas Strecker of Hesston was my fish dinner guest Aug. 7. He mowed my lawn. He called on his in-laws, Reign and Marlene Anduss at Ramona in the afternoon.
Adella Katz and Selma Ingram called on me the afternoon of Aug. 3.
When I called Alex Stuchlik for news the only thing he knew was they have been haying. That is true with my neighbors, the Deines'.
Steve Katz of Delavan was a Friday evening supper guest of his mother, Adella Katz.
Irma Benda of Pilsen said Marcel and William were busy plowing while some other farmers are disking, getting the ground ready for planting wheat. I planted some turnip seed in my garden. It came up thick in places.
Geraldine Noonan of Dallas, Texas, visited me Aug. 8. We did a lot of catching up on news.
Ramona Beisel of Tampa visited her mother, Frances Stuchlik the afternoon of Aug. 2.
Kenneth and Melinda Stuchlik of Towanda visited his mother Aug. 3 and brought her some cantaloupe and honeydew from their garden.
John Reznicek of Marion picked up his mother, Irma Reznicek from St. Luke Living Center and they went to church Aug. 5 at Pilsen. After Mass, John and Irma met Bob Reznicek, Helen Reznicek, and Rowena Olsen at The Big Scoop for lunch.
Jeff Scharping, Bobbie and Andrew of Wichita came Aug. 3 to the home of Frances Stuchlik. They camped in the pasture overnight and helped Grandma with yard work.
Lori Torline, Carolyn and Matthew of Derby picked up her mother, Irma Reznicek Monday and brought her to the farm. Mary Loewen of Hillsboro also came to the farm. They ate dinner with Bob and visited after dinner. Lori, Carolyn, and Matthew took Mom back to St. Luke Living Center.
Lowell Strecker of San Antonio, Texas, called me Sunday afternoon. He said he is doing OK. Still in a cast and cannot turn his head. He will see the doctor Aug. 16. It has been raining and raining until Aug. 3.
Frances Stuchlik accompanied Sarah Stuchlik to Wichita Aug. 5 where they attended a baby shower in honor of Mrs. Chad Stuchlik. The baby shower was held at Marilyn Stuchlik's home.

Selma Ingram accompanied her daughter, Adella Katz to Herington July 28. They visited Lottie Meek at her new home.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik went to Wilson July 28 to attend the Czech Festival. In the afternoon, Alex played his accordion with Dave Solomon Band, Omaha, Neb. They attended the polka Mass and polka dance. Czeh Landers, Grand Island, Neb., also played during the Mass and dance. Of course, a lot of kolaches were sold and eaten, and other Czech food.
Fred and Marguerite Utech accompanied Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu to Hillsboro July 25 to the Marion County Fair and parade.
John Reznicek, rural Marion, picked up his mother, Irma and they went to church services at Pilsen July 29. Bob Reznicek met them at Pilsen and he took his mother with him. They had dinner together. In the afternoon, Kenneth and Debbie Reznicek, Kary, Nathan, and Nicholas of Burlington and Carol Makovec joined them. Later, Irma was Bob's supper guest then he took her back to St. Luke Living Center, Marion.
Clark Strecker of Rose Hill was my dinner and supper guest. He did some work here. We had a nice visit.
Some of my neighbors had two or more inches of rain. Some had under an inch. Alex Stuchlik and I had one and a half inches. No lightning and very little thunder.
Jorge Hanschu of Hillsboro visited grandparents, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu from Friday to Sunday evening. Jorge and Grandpa went fishing. Junior said they caught some fish.
Ruby Scharping of Wichita and Frances Stuchlik accompanied Monty and Sarah Stuchlik to Edmund, Okla., Saturday morning where they attended the wedding of Jodi Stuchlik and Johnny Goodwin at Oklahoma City, Okla. They also went to the reception, dinner, and dance. They were overnight guests of Mark and Roberta Stuchlik at Edmund, Okla. Sunday afternoon they visited Mark's auto shop. Others who attended the wedding were Kenny and Melinda Stuchlik and family of Towanda, Terry and Grace Stuchlik and family of Emporia, Bill and Anna Stuchlik of Rogers, Ark., and Marilyn Stuchlik of Wichita.
Irene Waylan of Miami, Okla., spent July 26-30 visiting Ronnie and Leona Hajek and other relatives. Those attending the Hajek family reunion and potluck dinner July 28 at the Marion County Lake hall were Ronnie and Leona Hajek, Irene Waylan, Bryon and Cindy Waylan and Autumn of Houston, Texas, Daryl and Mona Waylan, Rachael, Jennifer, and Katherine of Little Rock, Ark., Brett and Trent Hajek of Newton, Darren Hajek, of Salina, Raelene Hajek of Lost Springs, Jon and Lynette McClean, Cade, Megan, and Josie of Buhler, Mildred Hajek, Jerome and Donna Hajek, and Kim Helmer, Hunter and Drew of Marion, and Rose Ann Hajek and Marvin and Phyllis Cishka, Kansas City. After the reunion, Mildred Hajek spent Saturday night and Sunday at the farm.
