I received more than three inches of rain this past weekend. The row crops, alfalfa, yard, and pastures really greened up since the rain. The weather is cooler. Sign of fall weather approaching.
Tia Jenkins, daughter of Larry and Connie Jenkins, tested Aug. 29 for TWON and made black belt. Her father is the instructor for TWON in Herington.
Douglas Strecker of Rose Hill spent all day Aug. 23 tearing down some of the fence around my small corral and trimming trees. He was my dinner guest.
Richard Martin of Herington, husband of Flo Martin, died Aug. 26 at their home. Memorial services were held Tuesday morning at Herington. After cremation, burial was in Lost Springs Cemetery.
Relatives of deceased John Strome started a small building back of the house on fire Aug. 26. It spread to a trash pile and then to the house. The house was completely burned. I remember Mr. and Mrs. George Haefner and then Ruth Riggin living in that home before John and Audrey Strome.
Micky Black of Herington visited uncle Larry Rudolph the afternoon of Aug. 26. They went to the hog roast at Tampa.
Fred Utech accompanied Junior Hanschu to the Marion Pioneer seed plot tour Aug. 25. They had lunch at St. Mark's Activity Center.
Bob and Irma Reznicek attended a softball tournament at Tampa Aug. 26. The Makovec co-ed team, coached by Darren Makovec, played. They also went Aug. 27 to Tampa to watch the Makovec team play. There were eight teams. Proceeds went to the Tampa Athletic Association.
Laura Drebot received an e-mail from her brother, Chris, who is in Iraq. He said they could use calendars and candy.
Frances Stuchlik accompanied Monty and Sarah Stuchlik to Kenny and Melinda Stuchlik's home near Towanda Aug. 27. They had a going-away party for their daughter, Alecia, who is leaving Sept. 1 for Prague, Czech Republic, to attend the Charles University.
Larry Rudolph visited me Aug. 27.
Junior and Jeannetta Hanschu went Aug. 26 to the Tampa hog roast.
