Lost Springs: Barbecue dinner honors Tennessee relatives

By EVELYN STRECKER

Lost Springs correspondent

Fred and Marguerite Utech hosted a six o'clock barbecue dinner at their home Sunday in honor of Sallie and Raymond Utech of Collierville, Tenn., children of Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Utech of Collierville. Raymond is attending college in Portland, Ore., and Sallie at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Other guests were Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob and Jorge of Hillsboro, Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Joshua of Windom, Neil and Jolene Albrecht and Kallie Jo of Salina, and Erich Utech and Edna Mueller of Ramona.

Marcel Benda picked up Bob and Lorena Pospisil of Libuse, La., and me May 24 and took us to their home so we didn't have to drive the muddy roads to their place. We visited with Marcel, Irma, and William for about three hours, then Marcel and Irma brought us back to my home where the men helped Clark Strecker fix his lawn mower. Bob and Lorena are not used to mud roads.

Sarah Stuchlik picked up her mother-in-law Frances Stuchlik a week ago Sunday and they drove to Newton where they attended David Stuchlik's graduation picnic at noon at the Athletic Park. David is the son of Marilyn Stuchlik and the late Wayne Stuchlik.

Larry Rudolph attended Francis Hajek's funeral May 22 and Msgr. Tonne's Rosary May 26 at the Pilsen church.

Lowell and Carla Strecker, Tony, Michael, and Cordell of San Antonio, Texas, were my guests from Monday afternoon until Thursday. We drove to Hesston Tuesday evening to get Douglas Strecker, then met Clark and Laura for supper in Newton. We spent Wednesday at the Herington Lake picnicking and fishing.

Oaklan and Tia Jenkins spent Friday night with Selma Ingram.

Mervin and Leona Deines attended the Vacation Bible School program and picnic Sunday night at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lincolnville. Their grandchildren Shelby and Justin Deines, children of Jeff and Gayla Deines, and Mckenzie and Dylan Deines, children of Terry and Julie Deines, attended Vacation Bible School at St. John's for a week.

Larry Rudolph visited Mary Helen Black and sons in Herington Saturday.

Douglas Strecker, Clark Strecker, Laura Drebon, and Larry Rudolph were here Sunday afternoon to do things for me. Douglas, Clark and Laura stayed for supper while Larry went to visit Mike and Karen Walsh and Renee.

I received a call from Lowell and family Friday night. They said they drove in snow, rain, and hail while going through the mountains. They were going to Yellowstone Park the next day. They are on vacation.

Larry Rudolph and I called on Kim Antoszyk and children in Ramona Sunday afternoon.

There is a lot of hay down because of a lot of rain. Too much rain wheat heads are turning white.
