In spite of the heat, I went to Lincolnville Saturday afternoon to take in the R.G. Kohler estate sale. There was a nice crowd. It was nice visiting with people I hadn't seen for a while. Ruth Ann Carlson and some of her 4-H members were there selling food and drinks. I bought a box of cigar boxes they just couldn't find a buyer for. My father, Lou Pospisil, used to smoke a cigar on Sundays and at weddings. Fathers would pass out cigars whenever a child was born in their family. Women would get candy bars.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu left Friday for the C&W Ranch, west of Salina, to celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary. They then attended the Tampa State Bank's hog roast.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik took care of Gary and Jo Ann Stuchliks' children, Derek, Amanda, Nicholas, Zachary, and Maria, Sunday while their parents went to Salina. They took baby Abigail with them.

I called the Bill Novak residence Saturday morning and it was so nice to hear Bill's voice. He said he and Dollye had been home for almost two weeks. Bill had a valve put in his heart July 16. It was difficult for him at first, but he is doing OK now. I talked to Dollye about Auxiliary membership, she is the secretary and membership chairman.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu picked up her folks, Fred and Marguerite Utech and their great-granddaughter Kallie Albrecht (who had stayed with the Utechs since Thursday) on Sunday after attending church services at Trinity Lutheran Church. They drove to McPherson where they met Kallie's mother, Jolene Albrecht of Salina and ate dinner. They then drove to Windom to visit Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Joshua.

Mary Loewen of Hillsboro visited her mother, Irma Reznicek, Wednesday afternoon.

Kimberly Easterling of Wichita was a guest of her folks, Mike and Karen Walsh and Renee over the weekend.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik accompanied Walt and Iona Dietrich of Tampa to Council Grove Wednesday to have supper at the Hayes House.

Larry Rudolph checked with me Monday morning about getting things ready for me to sell some cattle Wednesday morning. The pastures are so dry, we've started to feed bales of hay to the cattle.

Bob and Irma Reznicek visited Bob and Carol Makovec Sunday evening.

I called Connie Jenkins Saturday to learn how her mother, Selma Ingram, was recovering from the surgery she had Thursday at Junction City. Connie said her mother was doing OK and was coming home Sunday.

Weldon and Rosemary Deines accompanied Mervin and Leona Deines to Wichita Sunday to help Vernon Deines celebrate his 70th birthday and to celebrate Vernon and Bonnie's 48th wedding anniversary at the Club House. Their daughter Joni and granddaughters put it on and it was a surprise. Other guests were friends and family.

Some of us in the area got .20 or .30 inches of rain Thursday evening. It is so dry hedge trees are turning yellow from the bottom. There are very few hedge balls on the trees.

Larry Rudolph and Bob Thornhill and friend of Ramona attended the Tampa State Bank hog roast in Tampa Saturday evening.
