The coons visited my corn patch Thursday night. Luckily, I picked some a couple evenings before. I have been pickling my yellow zucchini squash and cucumbers. I only have four Jet Star tomato plants and they are loaded — some quite large. I dug out my potatoes and onions. My cantaloupes bloom and bloom but never set on fruit.
Josh Braden of Windom spent from Saturday noon until Sunday evening with his grandparents, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu. Junior and Jeanetta took him as far as Hillsboro Sunday evening to the home of Jayson and Jan Hanschu where Josh's mother, Jennifer Braden, picked him up. While Josh was at his grandparents' house, Jeff and Jennifer went out to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik are looking forward to this weekend in Wilson when the Czechs have a big annual celebration. Lots of Czech food is served and sold. Alex Stuchlik and other accordion players get together on a trailer and play all day long. They park the trailer under trees in the shade while they play the good ol' polka music.
Helen and John Reznicek of Marion and Mike and Judy Cooper of Galva camped over the weekend at Marion Reservoir. Bob and Carol Makovec, Bob and Irma Reznicek, and Charles and Mary Loewen of Hillsboro joined them Sunday evening for a cookout.
Ron Hanschu and James and Ann Weber went to Rhode Island to attend Bobby Jo's wedding while Lisa Hanschu was in the Herington hospital for a week.
Larry Rudolph went to the Ramona Senior Center dinner Thursday noon. Rose Wiles spoke after dinner.
Marvin and Leona Deines went to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Sunday afternoon to attend the installation of a new pastor.
Laura Drebot of Andover came to my home Wednesday evening after work to get her boat. We had a nice visit. Clark and Austin Strecker and Laura were planning to go to a lake in Oklahoma over the weekend to do some fishing. I sent five nice-sized ripe tomatoes with her.
I called Frances Hanschu to hear how her husband was feeling. She just got home after spending the weekend with him. She said he eats good. She takes food to him. Clinton and Fred Shields are on dialysis.
Selma Ingram told me that Audrey Strome was in the hospital in Salina last week. Audrey goes to Junction City for her dialysis treatments.
My cousin, Eleanor Urbanek, had the misfortune of breaking her hip. She had to undergo surgery in Wichita and now is in Salem Hospital in Hillsboro. She is doing OK, according to Marissa Makovec.
Larry Rudolph visited with me Thursday evening.
Marcel and Irma Benda visited Emil Pospisil in Wichita last week. Irma said Emil was feeling good and happy.
