Lost Springs: Father Dick honored on 60th birthday years ago

Frances Stuchlik and her family had a dinner Sunday at St. Theresa parish hall in Hutchinson honoring the 60th birthday of Father Dick Stuchlik. The family attended Mass by Father Dick before the dinner. Those present were Don and Ramona Beisel, Tampa; Monty and Sarah Stuchlik and Ross Stuchlik, Lost Springs; Marilyn Stuchlik, David, Amanda, and Lynea, Tim and Angie Beisel and family, and Joe and Nancy Stuchlik, Newton; Kevin and Sonja Stuchlike and boys, Damion and Sonja Carrillo, Danny and Melissa Stuchlik, Candee Stuchlik and friend Mike, and Stan and Ruby Sharping, Wichita; Mark and Roberta Stuchlik, Edmond, Okla.; Terry and Grace Stuchlik, Katie and Peter, Emporia; Tom Stuchlik, Berryington; and Kenny and Melinda Stuchlik and family, Towanda. Tom Stuchlik was his mother's Saturday overnight guest.
Kim Antoszyk and family hosted a six o'clock potluck dinner Wednesday evening at the Ramona Senior Center. Those present were Mayor Connie Smith, Evelyn Strecker, Harry Cheever, Reign Andus and Marlene Andus, Peabody; Larry Rudolph, Paul Jones, Lowell and Marge Hanschu, Erich Utech, Breale Dillbo, Tony Meyer, Mikayla, Steve, Mikael, Zachary, and Cahn Antoszyk. A meeting was held before the dinner. Plans were made to hold a hunters' feed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 9. Chili, chicken noodle soup, bierocks, desserts, coffee, and tea will be served.
The Ramona fire department will be serving a pancakes, sausage, and juice from 5 to 9 a.m. Nov. 9 at the senior center. The money will be used for equipment update.
I attended the annual dinner, meeting, and program of the Senior Citizens of Marion County Thursday at the Marion Senior Center.
Larry Rudolph brought small bales Thursday afternoon and put them on the north side of my house to keep the pipes from freezing this winter.
Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu attended the William Schlesener family reunion dinner Sunday noon at the Woodbine café.
Jeannie Weber visited Norma Bird on Sunday.
Kyla Stuchlik, Colby, and friend Shelby Brown, Hays, visited Frances Stuchlik on Saturday.
Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu and Fern Weber of Herington drove to Newton Sunday afternoon to visit Junior's sister, Velma Krause at Newton Medical Center. Velma broke her left hip Oct. 14. On the way home, they stopped in Hillsboro to visit Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob and Jorge.
Douglas Strecker of Hesston visitied me Sunday afternoon and was my supper guest. He fed my cattle and checked on the milo.
Dollye Novak left Oct. 5 and spent the weekend in Oklahoma City with her daughter Nancy and husband Mike Niesl. The following Monday she left for Midland, Texas, where she spent a week with her sister, Pat Richardson. She and Pat went to San Angelo, Texas, to attend a reunion of first cousins. Dolly returned home Oct. 15.
Junior Hanschu attended the Cow Camp production sale Monday at the home of Kent Brunner. He sold Simmental bulls and heifers.
When I called Mervin Deines for news he said he was in a hurry to get out in the field to combine soybeans. He said they were shattering. There is a lot of milo to be combined. A hard freeze is awaited so the green heads can dry.
Dollye Novak and three other women of the Hebron Lutheran Church in Burdick left Friday for a retreat at Tulsa, Okla., for women from Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The returned home Sunday evening.
I thought I would mention that Ed Urbanek was 94 Oct. 12. He still is a resident at Salem Nursing Home, Hillsboro. His sister Eleanor also is a resident there.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik and daughter Rita left Oct. 11 for Laredo, Texas, where they visited Tom and Diann Ensz, Jacob, Colton, and Kyle. They returned Oct. 16. Alex said they had a cold spell while they were there.
Correction — It should have read: Norma Bird, granddaughter Jenny Salena and daughter Fern Leach attended a women's retreat at Colorado Springs instead of Velda McDiffett of Herington.
