Monday night was a night to remember! Douglas Strecker of Hesston was here after work and put three filters on my Case tractor after supper. Shortly after he came to the house, we heard a roar, a lot of wind, thunder, and lightning. It wasn't long before my yard looked like an ice rink. Hail the size of quarters and larger fell. The hail went through my screen porch and some roofing blew off. I have only one tomato plant that was covered and four cabbage plants left in my garden. Potato plants look like something chewed on them. Another storm came through at 9 p.m.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu picked up her parents, Fred and Marguerite Utech, Friday night and drove to Hillsboro for the graduation at the Mennonite church for their grandson, Jacob Hanschu, from preschool.

All three of my sons called Saturday night to wish me a happy Mother's Day. Lowell of San Antonio said it was hot and dry; Clark of Elkohn, Neb., said it has been raining every day and always in the 50s; Douglas of Hesston had been at my house this past week. He was getting company — his daughter, Sonja from Dallas, and he asked me to come to Hesston. I don't care to drive in cool, rainy weather. I enjoyed the warmth of my home.
