Lost Springs: Grandson spends a few days at Paul Hajek home

Raelene Hajek drove to Goodland July 12 and picked up her grandchild, Cade McLean. Cade visited his grandparents, Paul and Raelene Hajek from July 12-16 when Raelene and Cade drove to Hays and met Lynette McLean and daughters, Josie and Maggie at the water park. After spending the day at the water park, Lynette and children returned to Goodland and Raelene returned to Lost Springs.
Junior Hanschu drove to Hillsboro July 28 to get his grandson, Jakob, who visited grandparents, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu till July 23 when they took him home. He is the son of Jayson and Jan Hanschu. While Jakob visited his grandparents, they went to see the Rolling Hills museum west of Salina.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik attended the Watts family reunion Saturday in Chanute.
Laura Drebot of Rose Hill is living with me, Evelyn Strecker, while she is on 24-hour call from Union Pacific Railroad, Herington. She came Sunday.
When she came, she brought roasting ears, tomatoes, and cantaloupe from Clark Strecker's garden. Laura and I canned seven quarts of tomatoes July 24. The roasting ears are so sweet. We have been eating BLTs (bacon, tomato, and lettuce) sandwiches. My garden was damaged by hail as large as Ping-Pong and golf balls July 13.
We sure can use some rain. My son Lowell of San Antonio, Texas, who finished a two-week course in advance management at the U.S. Post Office at Norman, Okla., said it was real dry in Texas. Lowell passed his course and is eligible for an executive position.
Bob and Carol Makovec hosted a wiener roast and potluck supper July 23 for a farewell get-together in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Makovec, Andrew and Alecia of Bealle Air Force Base, Calif. Guests were Irma Reznicek and Bob and other relatives and friends.
Jennifer Braden of Windom left her son, Joshua with her folks, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, July 22 while she attended crafts in Hillsboro that day. She returned to her folks' home that night. She and Joshua were Saturday overnight guests.
Frances Stuchlik accompanied John and Chandra Stuchlik and Tim and Ben Baker of Lincolnville to Kyla Stuchlik and Josh Allenbach's wedding July 22 at Memorial Park, McPherson. The reception, dinner, and dance was at the VFW in McPherson. Frances went home with Monty and Sarah Stuchlik and Ross and Megan Stuchlik of Tampa. Grandma Frances Stuchlik crocheted the flower girl's basket and ring bearer's pillow.
