Lost Springs: Hanschu, Braden celebrate birthdays

Jennifer Braden and son Joshua of Windom picked up Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu Aug. 8 and took them to Ramona Café for supper to celebrate the Aug. 8 birthdays of Jeanetta and Joshua. Great-grandparents, Fred and Marguerite Utech also joined them. After supper they went to Junior Hanschu's home.
Junior and Jeanetta went to Marion County Fair Wednesday evening at Hillsboro. Their grandson, Jakob Hanschu was on the Hillsboro float. Afterward Junior and Jeanetta brought their grandson, Jorge Hanschu home with them. He stayed until Sunday when his mother Jan and brother Jaxxon got him. Jakob went with his dad, Jayson to Marion where Jayson was playing in a tournament on the Tampa team.
Larry Rudolph visited Friday afternoon with his sister Mary Helen Black at Herington.
It was so good to get rain Saturday. I had reports from .80 to 1.60. It looks like it can rain again this Monday morning. When it was dry, there would be lots of moth butterflies on top of the water in the stock tank. Most were white, some tan and brown. There also were horseflies and wasps searching for water to drink.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik attended Martha Melcher's 90th birthday party Saturday at Mansion Café in Herington. Alex played his accordion in her honor.
George and Sharron Schutte of Lehigh and Steve and Glenda Schmidt of McPherson visited Saturday morning with me. We went to Ramona Café for lunch, then back to my house. Larry Rudolph also joined us after lunch. The Schuttes and Schmidts left in the middle of the afternoon after we discussed history of the Santa Fe Trail. There will be a National Santa Fe Trail symposium Sept. 29-Oct. 2 at McPherson. Included will be speakers, tours, workshops, and entertainment.
Larry Rudolph was my supper guest Saturday after he did work on my place.
Mervin and Leona Deines went Wednesday evening to Marion County Fair parade at Hillsboro.
Pamela Bevan is principal of grades kindergarten to fifth grade at Spring Hill. Her mother said she will be in charge of almost 700 pupils.
It won't be long the buses and students will be driving by. Centre grade school and high school starts Thursday.
Bob and Irma Reznicek attended the wedding of Andrea Wegerer of Marion and Drew Salsbury at St. John Nep. Catholic Church Saturday at Pilsen. They also went to the reception and supper at Marion City Building.
Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Jorge Hanschu, and Fred and Marguerite Utech went Saturday to Lawrence where they visited Sallie Utech and viewed University of Kansas campus.
Mildred Hajek visited for 10 days with her daughter Irene Waylon and husband at Miami, Okla. Irene brought her home Thursday.
Irma Reznicek and Bob attended the Father Kapaun guild committee potluck supper and meeting Sunday evening at the Pilsen Catholic church basement.
