I'm so glad to hear Bill Novak is doing so much better. He had heart surgery July 16 at Galachia Heart Hospital, Wichita. Dollye has been at his side all this time. Bob and Hallie Novak have been going every other day. Bill was able to be in a wheelchair on Sunday. His visitors Sunday were Bob and Hallie Novak and Alex and Jean Stuchlik. The Novak children, Major Bill Novak of San Antonio, Texas, Nancy of Oklahoma City, and Jim of Tampa also have spent time with their parents at the hospital.

Steve Katz accompanied Charles and Lori Smithhart of Hillsboro to Lawrence Wednesday to help Barbie Katz and friend B move to another home. Steve stayed until Friday morning and returned home with his mother Adele Katz and grandmother Selma Ingram who went to Lawrence Thursday to help with the move. The Smithharts returned home on Wednesday.

Larry Rudolph visited his sister Mary Helen Black in Herington Thursday, then stopped in to visit me.

Ben Holub of Marion visited Bob Reznicek Sunday night.

Candee Thode of Wichita spent all last Wednesday morning visiting her grandmother, Frances Stuchlik.

Jeff and Jennifer Braden of Windom hosted a birthday party Saturday in celebration of the first birthday of their son Joshua. Guests were Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Fred and Marguerite Utech of Ramona, Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob and Jorge of Hillsboro, Neil and Jolene Albrecht and Kallie of Salina, Gary and Kathy Braden of Wichita, other neighbors, and friends. Joshua, who can take only a few steps, tore open the gifts. Junior Hanschu said most of the gifts needed batteries.

Douglas Strecker of Hesston spent all day Saturday with me. He also called on Larry Rudolph for parts for the disc he was fixing. He also mowed the lawn. Douglas brought me two tomatoes that were different. I had never seen any like them before. They had yellow and green stripes and tasted a little like yellow tomatoes and still green tomatoes. They were really juicy. He also brought me some cucumbers.

Bob Reznicek attended Ruby Holub's 78th birthday dinner and reception Sunday noon at Holy Family Parish activity center. Cake and ice cream were served.

Stanley and Ruby Sharping of Wichita visited Frances Stuchlik on Saturday.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu attended the Relay of Life in Hillsboro Friday. Jeanetta walked in the relay.

Steve Katz was unable to enroll at the University of Kansas because he didn't hand in his papers soon enough, so he enrolled at Johnson County College in Overland Park. They start school Aug. 15.

Pat Zinn visited her daughter and husband, Barbara and Garland Cook, in Landon for several weeks.
