Lost Springs: Many attend Stuchlik celebration

Alex and Jean Stuchlik celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday with a Polka Mass at noon at St. John Nepomunce Church. The Mass was celebrated by Father Dick Stuchlik. A reception and dance followed at the Pilsen Community Building. Music for the Mass and dance was provided by Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Sister Veronica Baxa of Minneapolis and Marvene Oborny and daughter Lynn of Bellwood, Neb., spent Friday night with Irma and Bob Reznicek. The Rezniceks and their guests joined Ralph and Betty Stroda of Herington Saturday afternoon and drove to Wichita to attend the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of Gene and Anna Marie Miller at the Moose Lodge. They enjoyed the social hour and polka dance.

Mervin and Leona Deines went to Wichita Sunday to visit Vernon and Bonnie Deines. All attended the NBC baseball tournament at Lawrence Stadium. Anchorage, Alaska, played Fairbanks, Alaska. Merv said they announced that 2,900 people were in attendance.

Clark Strecker, Austin and Tailor of Andover and Laura Trebolt of Omaha, Nev., arrived at my place Friday evening. We ate supper at Al's Café. Later, they set up a tent in my yard and Laura and the two grandchildren slept in the tent Friday and Saturday nights. They took the large boat to Marion Reservoir Saturday morning and fished, did tube waterskiing, and swimming. I had a chicken dinner ready for them when they arrived that evening. They visited the Eisenhower museum and library in Abilene on Sunday. Laura left for Omaha with her boat that evening and Clark and children left for Andover. I might mention that Clark, Laura, and Austin fixed the roof on my house Saturday evening.

Brett Hajek of Wyoming visited his parents, Ronnie and Leona Hajek, on Thursday.

Irma and Bob Reznicek attended the anniversary celebration of Alex and Jean Stuchlik on Sunday.

Kyla Stuchlik of McPherson visited her grandmother, Frances Stuchlik, Tuesday morning.

Mildred and Francis Hajek attended the celebration of Drew Helmer's second birthday Friday evening at the home of his parents, Chris and Kim Helmer in Marion.

Frances Stuchlik attended the 40th wedding anniversary celebration of Alex and Jean Stuchlik.

Dollye Novak, Leona Hajek, and Connie Alvarez served on the primary election board at Centre Elementary School Tuesday.

It is nice to have this small amount of rain. It makes things look much brighter — settles the dust. I don't have to water my garden. I'm still picking tomatoes and a few cantaloupes. Clark got the riding lawn mower in readiness in case I needed to mow the lawn.

Frances Hanschu said she just got home for Salina after spending the weekend with her husband, Clinton, who has dialysis three times a week. She had to have the fan belt on her car replaced before coming home.

Father Dick Stuchlik visited his mother, Frances Stuchlik, Sunday after the Alex Stuchlik's anniversary celebration.

Jeff and Jennifer Braden of Windom are parents for the first time. A boy, Joshua Michael, was born at 6:33 a.m. at the McPherson hospital. Their son weighed 8 pounds 1 ounce and was 21 inches long. Grandparents are Gary and Kathy Braden of Wichita and Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu. Great-grandparents are Fred and Marguerite Utech. Junior and Jeanetta went to McPherson Thursday morning to see their new grandson and mother. Jeanetta returned Friday evening and stayed with them until Saturday evening.

Leona Deines took a birthday cake to the Lutheran Nursing Home in Herington Aug. 6 in celebration of the 101st birthday of her father, Herman Warns. The cake was shared with other residents. Jeff Deines, Jessica, Shelby, and Justin also were there to help with Grandpa's birthday. Mervin Deines and other members of the family were there throughout the afternoon and evening to help celebrate.

Sister Veronica Baxa returned to her home in Minneapolis Monday morning after spending the weekend with relatives and friends.
