Lost Springs: Strecker hosts Texas, Florida houseguests

Lowell and Carla Strecker of San Antonio, Texas, Simone Bracy of Mobile, Ala., and Cordell Watts of Florida visited June 28-July 1 with me.

While they were here, we visited my brother, Emil Pospisil, at Marion Manor Thursday afternoon. We drove on to Rose Hill where we were supper guests of Clark Strecker and son, Austin. Additional supper guests were Douglas and Marsha Strecker and son Matthew of Hesston, and Sonja Strecker of Newton. After supper the children went swimming Clark's pool and the rest of us took in his wonderful garden and yard.

Lowell and Carla, Simone, Cordell, and I were Friday supper guests of Douglas and Marsha Strecker and Matthew at Hesston. Additional supper guests were Reign and Marlene Anduss of Ramona, Sonja Strecker of Newton, Chris and Jeri Strecker, Joe and Autumn of Hesston. After supper, Matthew's ball team played two games against Halstead. Reign and Marlene Anduss, Douglas, Lowell, Clark, and Chris went to the games. Hesston won.

Jon and Lynette McLean, Cade, Maggie, and Josie of Goodland and Jason and Carla Hajek and son, Cooper of Hugoton, visited June 23 and 24 with Paul and Raelene Hajek. They came to attend Stephanie Hajek and Kyle Luna's wedding at Pilsen church. Paul and Raelene Hajek also attended the wedding, reception, and dance.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu hosted a barbecue supper on the Fourth of July. Guests were Jayson and Jan, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxon Hanschu of Hillsboro, Jennifer and Joshua Braden of Windom, Neil and Jolene Albrecht, Kallie and Morgan of Salina, and Fred and Marguerite Utech. After supper they went to Ramona to watch the parade and fireworks. Jennifer and Joshua were overnight guests. Joshua helped grandfather, Junior, haul hay bales Wednesday.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik attended Amelia Vinduska's 100th birthday open house July 2 at Pilsen.

Randy and Colleen Klug of Herington hosted a cookout supper on the Fourth of July in honor of their son, wife, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Makovec, Olesia and Andrew of Beale Air Force Base, Calif. Irma Reznicek and Bob were guests. Additional guests were other relatives and friends.

Weekend guests of Alex and Jean Stuchlik were Tom and Diann Ensz and family of Keller, Texas, and Kelby and Rita Schawe of Wichita. Additional Sunday picnic guests were Chris and Melissa Stuchlik and boys of Tampa, Robert and Debbie Burns and family of Wichita, and Gary and JoAnn Stuchlik and family of Pilsen.

Jeff Scharping and son, Bobbie of Wichita visited grandma, Frances Stuchlik, July 1 before they went camping. They were Frances' dinner guests.

Irma Reznicek and Bob went to Pilsen July 2 to attend Amelia Vinduska's birthday open house.

Frances Stuchlik accompanied her daughter, Ruby Scharping to Clay Center July 2 to visit Jan Scharping's dad, Alan Bergrem. While there they had a barbecue supper and fireworks. Ruby and Frances stayed in a motel in Clay Center that night. On the way back to Frances' home they stopped at Abilene July 3 and visited Randy and Karen Stuchlik and family.

Larry Rudolph stopped July 3 to check the battery of the electric fence and visit with me.

Frances Stuchlik, Sarah Stuchlik, and Ruby Scharping of Wichita attended a bridal shower July 4 in honor of Amy Terry at the home of Kevin and Sonya Stuchlik, Newton. Amy Terry will be marrying Chad Stuchlik on Aug. 4.

Marcel and Irma Benda of Pilsen took off June 29 and 30 from farm work and went on a trip to Parsons where they visited her only living aunt, Lillian Korinek at Parsons Lutheran Nursing Home.

Ross and Megan Stuchlik of Tampa hosted a barbecue supper July 4. Guests were Monty and Sarah Stuchlik, Frances Stuchlik, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Luna, and other relatives.

James weber swathed and baled my alfalfa and brome grass this past weekend.

Mike and Candee Toade of Wichita were weekend guests of Monty and Sarah Stuchlik.

Ronnie and Leona Hajek attended the Fourth of July celebration at Ramona.

Selma Ingram and Larry and Connie Jenkins, Tia and Oaklan were 4th of July supper guests of Adele Katz and son, Steve.

Clark Strecker of Rose Hill was my fish dinner guest June 21. He mowed my lawn.

On June 21, Bill and Dollye Novak picked up their grandson, Travis, at the home of his parents, Jim Novak and wife of Tampa, and took him to Clay Center to play ball. Clay Center played Mankato. Travis' team won. Dollye Novak and Travis went June 23 to Salina for a doctor's appointment. Travis returned to his mother's home Sunday after spending several days with his father, Jim Novak and Tina at Tampa.

Larry Rudolph helped Mary Helen and Micky Black of Herington move some furniture this past weekend.

Junior and Jeannetta Hanschu and Jennifer Braden and Joshua of Windom went to Salina June 24 where they accompanied Jolene Albrecht, Kallie and Morgan to Hays to attend the wedding of Emilie Krause, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Krause of Council Grove, and Kevin Haynes. They attended the reception, dinner, and dance at the Hays American Legion post.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik went to the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Eskeldson June 24 at the First Christian Church, Council Grove. The wedding was followed by a reception, dinner, and dance at the Council Grove 4-H Building.

Irma Reznicek and Bob accompanied John and Helen Reznicek of Marion to Smolan June 24 to eat at the Hickory Tree Restaurant. This was a belated birthday present from John and Helen to Irma.

Farmers around here finished their combining this past week. They are planning to get their alfalfa swathed and baled. I went out early this Wednesday morning to hoe my garden. I hope it rains this evening.

Clark Strecker and Justin of Rose Hill were my June 27 dinner guests. They mowed my law, weed-eated, and did other trimmings. My yard looks really nice.

Junior and Jeannetta Hanschu drove to Salina June 26 where they watched their granddaughter, Kallie Albrecht, play T-ball. Fred and Marguerite Utech accompanied them.

They say animals are dumb. Not so, as Irma Benda looked out her kitchen window June 27 she saw a pig rooting in her garden. She chased him back to the pen. Not long after that she saw him out again. Marcel checked the fence around the pen. Everything seemed OK. They chased him back in the pen the third time. After checking the fence, William stood out to see where the pig got out. The pig used his snout to push up the gate and got out. William wired the gate so he could not get out again.

John and Helen Reznicek of Marion, Charles and Mary Loewen of Hillsboro, and Bob and Carol Makovec and Irma and Bob Reznicek ate June 25 at the Ramona Café. After dinner, all except John and Helen went to Bob and Carol Makovec's to visit.

Irene Waylan of Miami, Okla., and her two grandchildren, Jenny and Kathy of Little Rock, Ark., visited Irene's mother, Mildred Hajek from June 21-24. While here, Irene took her mother to the rehearsal at the Pilsen Catholic church basement Thursday evening. Irene Waylan, Jenny and Kathy, and Mildred went to Stephanie Hajek and Kyle Luna's wedding June 24 at the Pilsen Catholic church. They also attended the reception and dance at the Pilsen Community Center.

Lori Torline, Megan, Carolyn, and Matthew of Derby and Mary Loewen of Hillsboro spent all day June 28 with Irma and Bob Reznicek.

Leona Hajek, Brett Hajek of Newton, and Darren and Trent Hajek of Salina attended the wedding of Stephanie Hajek and Kyle Luna June 24 at the Pilsen Catholic church. They also attended the reception and dance.
