Lou Jean Nesser

Lou Jean (Nienstedt) Nesser, 68, died Jan. 8, 2002, at Marion Manor.

Born May 9, 1933, at Marion, she was the daughter of Alvin and Marjorie (Ford) Nienstedt.

On Nov. 16, 1948, she married Charles A. "Sonny" Nesser in Manhattan. They had three sons and one daughter.

Lou Jean was self-employed selling crafts at art shows and county fairs. She was especially well known for her talent of making Barbie Doll and Cabbage Patch doll clothes. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing Bingo.

She was a member of the Marion Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen (Nesser) Dvorak, and her father, Alvin Nienstedt.

She is survived by her husband, Charles "Sonny" of the home; three sons, Gary of Nevada, C. Michael and Doug of Newton; one brother, Ken Nienstedt of Marion; one sister, Joyce Sangwin of White City; her mother, Marjorie Nienstedt of Lincolnville; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday morning at Marion Christian Church. Officiating at the service was the Rev. John Yates with Donna Hayen as organist and Greg Carlson as vocalist.

Burial was at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence. Casket bearers were Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Dustin Nesser, Rick and Darrin Dvorak. Honorary bearers were Kenny Nienstedt and Buck Sangwin.

A memorial fund has been established with the Marion Christian Church.
