Louis Vinduska

Louis P. Vinduska, 86, died March 27, 2003 at Hillsboro.

He was born March 13, 1917 near Pilsen to Joseph F. and Cecelia (Veverka) Vinduska. He attended Clark Grade School and Pilsen Elementary School.

Vinduska entered the Army April 22, 1943, serving in the 104th Infantry Division. He was captured by the German Army on Nov. 2, 1944, and was liberated in May 1945. He was discharged on June 12, 1945.

He married Ruby Prochaska Oct. 15, 1946, at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Glasco. They farmed in rural Marion County.

Louis Vinduska was a member of St. John Nepomucene Church of Holy Family Parish at Pilsen; Knights of Columbus, Pilsen Council; VFW; American Legion; Pilsen Community Center board of directors; Pilsen Cemetery Board, St. John Nepomucene Church Parish Council; former member of the Pilsen School District board of education; Clark Township board of directors; and was a Eucharistic Minister.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Anton, Phillip, Albert, Raymond, and Paul and one sister Frances Winkley. He is survived by his wife Ruby; two sons Terry and wife Cindy of Marion and Ron and wife Tammy of Topeka; and five granddaughters.

The Rosary was recited Sunday evening at Pilsen. Mass was Monday morning at Pilsen. Con-celebrants were Fr. Steve Gronert, Fr. Paul Oborny, and John Jirak. John Reznicek was the lector and Don and Jeannie Vinduska served as Eucharistic Ministers. The ushers were John Vinduska, Gail Makovec, and Ron Makovec.

Charlene Svitak provided organ music at both the Rosary and the Mass. Servers were Andrew Bina, James Bina, and Nicholas Kleiber. The gift bearers were the five granddaughters, Kristi, Staci, and Jill Vinduska, Melissa Stuchlik, and Sara Hanson. The casket was carried by Anthony Hanson, Daniel Stuchlik, Ed Vinduska, Albert Vinduska, M. Joe Wesley, and Don Meerian. Burial was in the Pilsen cemetery with military honors.

Memorial funds have been established with the Pilsen Community Center and Fr. Emil Kapaun Scholarship Fund.
