Louise Kobiskie

Funeral services for Louise Johanna Dorothea Kobiskie, 85, were held Monday at the Peace United Church of Christ in Alma.

The Rev. John Austin officiated. Burial was in Peace United Cemetery in Alma.

Kobiskie died Sept. 5, 2002, at the Council Grove Health Care Center. She was a long time resident of the Alma community.

She was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Baker, the daughter of William G. and Anna S. Meyer Kneisel. She attended a country school near Powhattan.

She married Woodrow William Kobiskie May 6, 1945, in Alma. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1990.

Kobiskie and her husband operated the family farm north of McFarland until their retirement in 1975 when they moved to Alma. She also worked for local restaurants and Alma Manor as a cook. She was an active member of the Peace United Church of Christ. For several years she was a 4-H leader and also enjoyed playing cards in a local club.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Friesen and her husband, Dennis, Herington, Shirley Robertson and her husband, Rodney, Altus, Okla., Nancy Rowley and her husband Gary, Eskridge; one son, John Kobiskie and his wife Sheryl, Manhattan; two sisters, Leona Thonen, Powhattan and Pauline Rison, Omaha, Neb; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
