Luetta Schmidtberger-Wiedeman

Luetta M. "Honey" Schmidtberger-Wiedeman, 87, died Jan. 27, 2004, at Wheatland Nursing Center, Russell.

Born Aug. 1, 1916, at Landisville, Ind., she was the daughter of Charles and Edith (Snavley) Turner. She began school in Indiana, then moved to Butler County, near Augusta, then Russell County.

On July 7, 1934, she was married to Herman Schmidtberger in Russell. He died in 1981. She later married Hubert Wiedeman.

She worked as a cook at Fairport school for many years. She also was a cook at a Mexican restaurant in Russell for many years until her retirement.

She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed oil painting, doll collecting, and gardening. She attended Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a member of TOPS in Russell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; an infant brother, Charles Turner; and a son, Larry Dean Schmidtberger.

Survivors include her husband, Hubert Wiedeman of Hays; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dennis Albrecht of Russell; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Rosalie Schmidtberger of Marion; a daughter-in-law, Jo Anne Schmidtberger of Silver Lake; a sister, Waunita Vine of Ellis; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at Pohlman-Heise Memorial Chapel, Russell, with Pastor Kelly Taylor Schaus officiating.

Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Russell.

A memorial fund has been established with the Russell Regional Hospital Building Fund.
