Mae Carlson
Mae Violet Carlson, 96, died July 24, 2003.
A celebration of her life was held Aug. 1 at Sequim Presbyterian Church, Sequim, Wash.
Born July 23, 1907, at Overbrook, she was the daughter of Frank and Laura Burdette.
She graduated from Lost Springs High School in 1925 where she met her husband, Walter C. Carlson. They were married Sept. 5, 1929.
They owned and managed a restaurant in Lost Springs.
She was an employee at Boeing in Wichita from 1941-43, and was proud to have been a riveter on the B-29 bomber.
Her husband died in 1965, while living in Wichita.
In 1988 she moved to Sequim, Wash., to be near her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Elaine Carlson.
She was a member of Sequim Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; sisters, Alma McCoy and Alene Engel, both of Hillsboro; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated and burial will be in the Lost Springs Cemetery at a later date.
