Many from Tampa attend Tonne funeral

Monday dinner guests of Tom and Dee Duggan were Carolyn Duggan of Hutchinson and Mark and Beth Schafer and Tommy of Phoenix, Ariz. All visited the Pilsen church in the afternoon.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika celebrated their wedding anniversary Sunday with dinner at Kingfisher's Inn near Marion. Others present were their daughters and families, Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna. After dinner, they attended the Father Emil Kapaun memorial service at Pilsen. All gathered at the Stika home in the evening for supper and anniversary cake.

Becky Routh, Allison and Danielle of Augusta visited Leona Kleiber Sunday afternoon. Danielle remained to spend the week with her grandmother and attended Vacation Bible School at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Leroy Schwartzman returned home to Ballwin, Mo., Monday after spending a week with his mother, Helen Schwartzman.

Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole spent the weekend in Omaha, Neb., visiting Ted and Maxine Zielinski and Donald and Carolyn Srajer in celebration of Cole's birthday.

Sunday evening visitors of Helen Schwartzman and Leroy were Stephanie Classen of Marion, Eleanor Murphy, and Martha Melcher.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the wedding of Sallye Gooding Dye and Gary Yost at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Grace Lutheran Church in El Dorado. Sallye is the granddaughter of Virgil and Barbara Gooding of El Dorado and daughter of Terrie Dye and the late David Gooding. Among the many relatives and friends present were Virgil and Barbara Gooding, Elmer and Joyce Gooding and Clayton of Tempe, Ariz., and Al and Lila Gooding and Don and Cecile Penney of Topeka. A reception and dance at the American Legion followed the wedding.

Martha Melcher and Tillie Hein went on Friday to Harrah's casino north of Topeka.

Becky Davis is spending 10 days in Paris, France, as part of a college course in French literature. Becky, who just completed her freshman year at Benedictine College in Atchison, was on the dean's list for the spring semester.

Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki spent Saturday in McPherson.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Amanda and Nicholas and Leona Kleiber attended the Kansas Lions state band concert Saturday morning at Fort Hays State University. Andrea Kleiber, sponsored by the Tampa Lions Club and Centre High School, was one of 255 musicians attending the annual band camp from May 27 to 31 and performing in the concert. All the Kleibers enjoyed dinner at a Hays restaurant.

Paul and Edna Backhus went to Wichita Saturday evening for a 50th wedding anniversary reception honoring Roman and Alice Humicek.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Hillsboro May 27 for a baseball game between Centre and the Hillsboro I team. Their grandson, Rustyn Kerbs, played. Others in his cheering section included Reuben Kerbs of Wichita, Ashton Kerbs of Salina, and Russ and Julie Kerbs. Russ is one of the coaches. All went out to eat after the game.

Tillie Hein was among those attending funeral services at Pilsen May 26 for Msgr. Arthur Tonne. Many from here attended either the Rosary on Monday evening or the Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday. During his many years as a priest at Pilsen, Msgr. Tonne was highly respected not only by his own parishioners, but by others in this whole area. He is sadly missed.

Nicholas Kleiber spent May 28 to 30 with his grandmother, Leona Kleiber.

Debra Doty of Branson, Mo., was a May 25 dinner guest of Tillie Hein on her way home from Larned, where she had attended her high school alumni reunion. After leaving here, she visited her sister and parents, Pam and Bill Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls and Ron and Dolores Scott of Emporia.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter at Marion Manor May 27 and joined her and other residents for a potluck supper.

Memorial Weekend guests of Tom and Dee Duggan were Darla Hall and Adam of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington.

Tim and Sue Zielinski and Charlie of Omaha, Neb., spent the Memorial Weekend with Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the graduation ceremony for Salina High School South May 25 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina. Their granddaughter Molly Kerbs was one of the graduates. Molly's family, Tim and Marchelle Kerbs and April, were hosts for a reception at their home following commencement. Others attending were Connie Thompson and Allison of Abilene, Glenn and Eloise Kerbs and Clayton of Dodge City, Pat and Kennith Pierce of Augusta, Bruce and Lori Clark of Towanda, Ashton Kerbs and Jesse Smith of Salina, Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn, and many friends.

Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle of Augusta, Melissa Stuchlik of Wichita, Cindy Vinduska, Adeline Bernhardt, and Leona Kleiber attended the Memorial Day service at Lewis Cemetery in Ramona. Becky and daughters and Adeline were Leona's dinner guests.

Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter at Marion Manor in Marion the afternoon of May 25 and took her to visit Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody and the Marion cemetery.

Greg Sklenar spent May 25 with his mother and sister, Lois Sklenar and Valerie Hampton.

Victoria Zell and daughter Gay of Shelby, Mont., spent the Memorial Day weekend with Helen Schwartzman. All attended the Lost Springs alumni banquet Saturday evening at Centre Elementary School in Lost Springs. Additional Sunday guests were Bob and Lorena Pospisil of Libuse, La., Emil Pospisil, Helen Jean McGonigle, and Wayne and Marita Schwartzman of Wichita, John and Pat Schwartzman of Salina, Larry Parsons of Mount Hope, and Evelyn Strecker. All enjoyed dinner at the café. Evening visitors who came were Stephanie Classen of Marion, Eleanor Murphy, and Martha Melcher.

Barney Bernhardt of Wichita was a May 23 supper guest of his mother, Adeline Bernhardt. After supper they visited the Tampa and North Tampa Lutheran cemeteries.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska were hosts for a barbecue the evening of May 25 in celebration of their daughter, Melissa Stuchlik's birthday. Others present were Ruby Vinduska, Leona Kleiber, Jill Vinduska and Armando Tarin of Manhattan, Daniel Stuchlik and Mike and Candy Thoude of Wichita, Monte and Sarah Stuchlik and Ross Stuchlik. Birthday cake and ice cream were served after Melissa opened her gifts.

Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were May 20 supper guests of his parents, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs, in celebration of Rustyn's birthday. Later in the evening, Rustyn opened his gifts and birthday cake was served.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber enjoyed lunch in Salina May 21.

Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene May 20 to see the Abilene girls' softball team play in a tournament. Connie Thompson and Taylor also were present. Allison Phillips was on the team.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt joined Milda Krauter and other Marion Manor residents May 20 in attending sixth grade performance night at Marion Elementary School.
