Marcia Costello
Marcia Lynn Bergkamp Costello, 38, died Aug. 11, 2003, following a long battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 16, 1964, she was the daughter of Melvin and Marge Bergkamp of Mount Vernon.
At the age of three, her family moved to Salina where she attended St. Mary's Grade School and Sacred Heart High School.
Following high school she attended the University of Dallas, where she earned a master's degree in humanities and a degree in secondary education.
She taught physics in Carrollton, Texas, then moved to Wichita and taught at Wichita Collegiate and East High School.
In 1993 she married Tom Costello. She stayed home to raise their three children, Elizabeth 7, Lauren 5, and Michael 2.
She was active in the Catholic church. Her hobbies included scrapbooking and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; daughters, Elizabeth and Lauren; son, Michael; parents, Melvin and Marge Bergkamp of Salina; brothers, Scott of Salina and Jason of Ost; and grandmother, Lonia Meyer of Conway Springs.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Garden Plain.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Bishop Thomas Olmsted as celebrant.
Memorial funds have been established with Harry Hynes Hospice and St. Anthony's Religious Education Program.
