Marie Cahoj
Marie (Mary) Frances Hajek Cahoj, 93, died Sept. 25, 2003.
Born Aug. 16, 1910, and delivered by her grandmother, Mary Steiner, on a farm south of Pilsen, she was the oldest child of Frank and Agnes (Steiner) Hajek.
She attended grade school at St. John Nepomucene School in Pilsen and graduated from Lincolnville High School in 1928.
In October 1930, she married Anton Cahoj and they moved to a farm west of Beardsley, where she loved to garden and enjoy nature.
She lived in Benkelman, Neb., and Bird City before moving to Good Samaritan Home in Atwood following a serious illness.
She wss preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Albert.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Rose Ann Hajek of Atwood; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Hajek of Lost Springs, Alice Faimon of McDonald, and Evelyn Cahoj of Colby; and many other relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atwood, with Father Damian Richards as celebrant.
Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Atwood.
A memorial fund was established in her name with Atwood Good Samaritan Center.
