Marion Ampride team wins two, drops one

The Marion 13-15-year-old boys baseball team sponsored by Ampride, won its season-opener against Council Grove May 27, and split with Centre May 30.

In the May 27 match-up, the Ampride team defeated Council Grove. Clinton Jeffrey was the winning pitcher, striking out five batters. Jeffrey, Preston Williams, and Clayton Garnica all had doubles in the win.

On May 30, the Ampride team lost its first game of the year against Centre, 5-4.

Josh Kelsey pitched the first three innings racking up four strikeouts. Jeffrey pitched the remaining two innings with one strike out. Garnica, and Kelsey each scored a run, while Jeffrey Richmond scored a pair in the loss.

In game two of the double header, the Marion team defeated Centre, 14-8.

Garnica pitched the first three and one-half innings with three strikeouts. Josh Kelsey came in to relieve Garnica the last inning and a half, racking up four strike outs.

David DeForest hit a triple and a 2-run RBI. Jeffrey also had a 2-run RBI in the win.
