Marion baseball team drops pair to Knights
he Marion baseball team suffered through a slugging slump last Tuesday that cost the Warriors two losses as they watched the Sacred Heart Knights rattle off two convincing wins.
In game one of the double header, the Warriors and Knights were even at zeros heading into the second inning of play, but Sacred Heart scored a run in the second and took a one run to none lead.
The Warriors were shut out in the bottom of the second.
In the third, Sacred Heart compiled four runs to Marion's one and took a 5-1 lead.
Both the Warriors and Knights were held scoreless for the next three innings, until Sacred Heart added their last score of the game in the top of the seventh inning.
Jason Matz, Bronson Shipman, and Moe Rozaie each went 1-for-3 in the losing cause for Marion.
Pitcher Clayton Chamberland was credited with the loss pitching seven innings, striking out four, giving up eight hits, six runs, and four earned.
In game two, Sacred Heart bolted out to a 4-0 advantage after two innings.
The Knights would add one run in the fifth to close the game out with a five-run win.
The Warriors, shut out in game two, managed only three hits and committed five errors in the loss.
Mitch Enos finished 2-for-3 at the plate and pitched seven innings, striking out six, giving up three hits, and two base-on-balls.
Marion hosted Canton-Galva on Tuesday and will play a makeup game vs. Moundridge on Saturday.
