Marion FFA attends district contest
Members of Marion/Florence FFA Chapter participated Nov. 14 in the South Central District FFA Leadership Conference at Moundridge.
The conference consisted of three different competitions in the areas of parliamentary procedure, FFA information, and ritual.
Marion placed fourth in FFA information, ninth in parliamentary procedure, and 12th in ritual. Individually, Alan Vogel placed ninth in FFA information.
Students competing in the parliamentary procedure contest had to take a test about procedure and perform a 10-minute demonstration of 10 different parliamentary motions. The demonstration had to reflect a meeting in progress and participants were told which motions and the topic a minute before beginning.
FFA information contest consisted of a 100-question test about the FFA organization, officers, history, official functions, and current programs and awards.
Students in the ritual contest were required to perform the opening ceremony used at FFA meetings and official functions.
Students competing for Marion were Allison Wegerer, Alan Vogel, Becky Tharp, Molly Holub, Sarah Regier, and Robyn Kukuk.
