Marion FFA attends leadership conference
Leaders for the Marion/Florence FFA chapter participated Nov. 10 in the South Central District FFA Leadership Conference at Moundridge.
The conference consisted of three competitions in the areas of parliamentary procedure, FFA information, and ritual.
Marion placed fourth in parliamentary procedure, sixth in information, and ninth in ritual. The team finished sixth overall, out of 24 teams.
Danielle Cope placed 10th individually in information.
Students competing in parliamentary procedure were required to take a test over procedure and perform a 10-minute demonstration of 10 parliamentary motions. The demonstration reflected a meeting in progress and participants found out which motions they had to demonstrate and the topic one minute before beginning the demonstration.
The information contest consisted of a 100-question test over the FFA organization, officers, history, official functions, and current programs and awards.
Students in the ritual contest were required to perform the opening ceremony used at FFA meetings and official functions.
Students competing for Marion included Cope, Adam Depler, Braden Suffield, Chase Williams, Kevin Billbe, and Tacy Taylor.
