Marion grapplers take first at SES tourney
With a little more than a week until regional competition, Marion High School wrestling coach Chad Adkins thinks his team is peaking at the right time.
The team brought home its first tournament win Saturday with a 4-1 record from the Southeast of Saline Tournament.
Marion defeated Southeast of Saline 48-30, Hill City 36-28, St. John's Military Academy 41-16, and Remington 54-18, and lost to Hillsboro 29-39.
"We wrestled really well," Adkins said. "The kids did a really good job."

Hillsboro match
"We didn't go out and take care of business during this dual," Adkins said, speaking of the Warriors' loss to Marion.
"They match up great against us," Adkins commented. "Our kids were flat, and Hillsboro did everything they needed to do to beat us."
However, the loss kept the Warriors fired up the remainder of the day, Adkins commented, and inspired the team to win all its duals.

"But we will learn from those mistakes."
