Marion Manor: Celebrations

The first weeks of July have seen bang-up celebrations of all kinds.
We celebrated the Fourth of July, of course, with every resident proudly wearing an American flag sticker. A patriotic program began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by word games, patriotic songs, bingo and ice cream bars.
Associate of the Month Helmut Wituk is head of the maintenance department. He was born in Wales, Austria and is married to Carol Wituk, who also works here.
Our Resident of the Month also was announced July 11. The winner is Clara Razor. She was born in 1912 near Durham. Her husband was William Sherman Razor. They had two children, Margie and Bill, now deceased. Clara likes to read and to crochet.
On this very same day, we also celebrated Marie Kusnefsky's 91st birthday. Her niece, Pat Smith, brought in cake and ice cream and balloons for a party that many residents enjoyed.
During last week's Wednesday special, yours truly brought various kitchen utensils to show. These longtime cooks knew all but one. They were stumped by the little wooden honey dripper. The best and most hilarious guess was that it was a " little potato masher."
