The highlight of the week was our surprise visit from Gene Vinduska and his son. Gene called Thursday and asked what we had going on and we told him to "come on over." At first, there were only a few, but as soon as resident heard the accordion music, everyone started filtering in. It wasn't long and the front room was packed. Everyone was clapping and singing along. Gene's son played the drums to help keep the beat. This was the first time residents heard them play together.

What a wonderful week! It started off on Monday with fun and games and trivia based on the upcoming Fourth of July. Fun and games are held every day in the dining room. Attendance varies from day to day, depending on the mood and the activity. Some days there is a full house. We play Bingo on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Friday is late Bingo, getting underway at 7:30 or so.

We made "wave" bottles for our craft on Monday. Three lovely young ladies joined us. They were relatives of one of the residents. Everyone enjoyed having them.

We baked butterscotch brownies on Tuesday and took our brownies to the potluck that evening. The potluck was great, but there weren't as many in attendance as the last two. I'm sure that the fact the harvest is in full swing and family members were trying to get the wheat in before it rains is a factor. There still was plenty to eat. The main dish was bierrocks with watermelon for dessert.

We read stories from the Marion County Record for current events on Wednesday. Residents enjoy keeping up on what is happening in the community.

Our pet of the week was the sugar glider. He is very cute, but he's really bashful and just a few were able to get a good look at him.

I took two of our residents, Josephine and her sister Bernice to a family reunion at the home of Josephine's daughter JoAnn. Both had a wonderful time.

Friday wound the week down with a relaxing trip to the library. There's nothing like a good book to help unwind.
