Marion Manor: Nursing home receives doll display
By AUTUMN HANSON

Another week has come and gone. The holiday weekend made the week seem even shorter. It was difficult to follow the excitement of July 4.
We have a new display in our quiet lounge thanks to resident Tammy. The plexiglas case holds dolls made by her mother, Ardythe. The dolls are of the four seasons; another is a copy of Tammy's wedding dress, and a small doll represents Tammy's daughter Megan in a July birthstone dress. Next time you visit be sure to go to the quiet lounge to see them.
Residents played bingo Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. We had reading group Tuesday.
Morning exercise group meets during the week for games and conversation. I brought my porcelain baby Tuesday and we talked about our babies. I asked if anyone had accidentally dropped his or her baby. Many admitted to having a little one roll off the couch or bed when turning away for a second. Resident council was held after Thursday morning exercise group.
Marie from Hilltop Manor came Wednesday and Friday to say the rosary with residents. Mass will be held once a month on the third Friday.
Red Hat Society ladies met Thursday afternoon in the quiet lounge. Joy was the hostess. Punch and donuts were served.
Pat brought cakes and ice cream Sunday for an early celebration of her aunt Marie's birthday. Residents joined in the front room to celebrate with Marie and her family. Everyone reported it was a wonderful party and the cakes were excellent.
We said goodbye to Effie who died earlier this week. Her family had become such a part of ours. Family members always are welcome in the facility.
We would like to welcome our newest family members, Jack and Hope, to the facility. Staff and residents alike hope they enjoy it here.
A big thanks to Diana and Clinton Jost, Mr. and Mrs. Galen Schneider, and Kenneth and Anita Sly for the contributions to the Cy Goertz memorial fund. The funds will be going to bingo as the family requested. Cy was one of our most avid bingo players, and we think of him each time we play. It was through Cy's contacts with his friends at the VFW that we got our lighted bingo board.
