Marion Manor: Residents enjoy newest volunteer, Misti Richmond

We have a new volunteer, Misti Richmond. Misti is doing a work-study program that involves music therapy. Residents gathered in the front room Tuesday to meet her. Residents enjoyed the soothing sounds Thursday of her guitar. She will be here Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. She already is a hit with the residents.

The new year is upon us and we are taking it in stride. The holidays were a whirlwind of activity.

We thank those in the community who remembered us during the holidays — carolers, visitors, and those who brought gifts or sent money for gifts. The residents enjoyed their holidays, thanks to all of you.

We also are adding a new activity. Men's Coffee Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Our administrator, Mike, will host the group. The coffee club is open to all male members of the community. It will provide men at Marion Manor a chance to catch up with things going on in the community. Many of the men here were regulars at local coffee spots in town.

We also will continue our favorite activities including bingo, morning exercise, and discussion groups. Of course one of the favorites is the Lunch Bunch trips to McDonald's.

We would love to have you visit us, and we always can use volunteers to help enrich the lives of the residents — whether just to visit or share a special talent. Make your new year's resolution to come and make a difference in our seniors' lives.
