Marion Manor: War memories shared by residents

Red Hat Society met at the manor Thursday with Joy as hostess. She obtained items from an auction which included several 1940s newspapers. Joy shared the papers with the residents. The articles were about World War II Nazi crimes, along with the Japanese surrender. Many of the women had a lot to say about the war stories, as most remember those days. They talked about war rationing and stamps issued by the government. Irene still has one of her stamp books tucked away.
Several filled the van and had lunch at McDonald's this week. Patti our therapist also came. She is able to work with clients outside Marion Manor as part of their therapy. Most of us take it for granted — walking, stepping, balancing, and carrying — but for some elderly this can prove to be a challenge. We are pleased with our patient therapy program and have some great success stories.
Bingo was enjoyed this week along with morning exercise group. We have lengthy visits in the mornings about life, relationships, friendships, and families.
Our medical aid, "Uncle Waltie" has a new granddaughter. The pregnancy was difficult, and his daughter kept all of us updated via a web page.
We welcome new members to our family, Naomi and Rosie. We hope they enjoy being a part of our family for however long they are here.
