Marion Manor: Where di the month go?

By AUTUMN HANSON

Where did the month go? Just one more week and it will be September! So much has been happening here, I hope I don't leave out anything.

We played the usual fun and games in the dining room all week, with a full house on several days.

This month found us celebrating many birthdays. The families of Elsie Winkley and Anna Cather hosted birthday parities for them these past two weeks. Residents were treated to cake, ice cream, and punch served by family members. It was a wonderful treat for both the "birthday girls" as well as residents. We still have one more to celebrate this month.

The Rev. John Goering served communion to his church members Aug. 18.

Our senior center visit scheduled for the Aug. 20 was changed. The center had a full house for lunch so, instead, a small group of us went to the Pizza Hut for lunch.

Our Diner's Club had dinner out on the patio instead of going out to eat. Residents enjoyed being served on the patio — it was a nice change of pace.

We had our usual Bingo games on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Aug. 18 we played for a special prize, a T-shirt with a Bingo saying on it. The winner was Everett. He picked the shirt that said "Bingo, the great American pastime."

Our Bible study was changed due to Dick driving for the school. It now is held at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays.

Mass was offered on Wednesday and Rosary on Friday.

We baked snickerdoodles on Wednesday. After the cookies were done, we joined in the dining room and ate cookies and drank iced tea or lemonade.

We had a small party in the dining room Friday to celebrate Hawaii Day. We will continue with the Hawaiian theme for our potluck dinner to be held Tuesday.
