Marion Marble and Granite continues successful season
The 10-and-under Marion Marble and Granite softball team kept up its winning ways this past week, taking two games from Hillsboro Prudent Travel and Tours, to improve to 3-0.
Chelsea Voth led the team June 15 on the mound, pitching all four innings and striking out two in a 16-4 victory.
Despite only having eight girls, the team pounded out 26 hits. Every girl had three hits each, while Voth and Anne Jirak had four each.
On Friday the girls won their third straight, defeating Hillsboro again 11-5.
Six girls, Voth, Erin Meierhoff, Anne Jirak, Samantha Eickleberry, Kelli Hess, and Elizabeth Goentzel, led the team with two hits each.
The defensive play of the night came from catcher Jirak who threw a runner out trying to steal third.
