Marion officer responds to possible rescue
A Marion police officer responded Sunday, with other officials, when a capsized boat was reported at Marion Reservoir. It was determined to be a wind surf board and not a boat.
Nov. 6: A hit and run accident was reported. Officers provided extra patrolling during a power outage.
Nov. 7: A lost motorist received assistance. A Marion County Sheriff's Deputy received assistance with loose cattle on U.S.-77. A warning was issued for a defective taillight.
Nov. 8: An officer was Marion Elementary School for the DRAGNET program. A subject met with an officer regarding a trespassing complaint. A follow-up investigation was conducted regarding a theft.
Thursday: A warning was issued for a defective headlight. An individual met with an officer regarding someone bothering his/her dog. Traffic control was provided at a railroad crossing on Cedar Street, north of Marion, after a train damaged a crossing; an officer was on standby until Union Pacific personnel arrived. An open business door was located. The owner of a vehicle with an open door was contacted; everything was OK. City crews were contacted regarding a possible water leak.
Friday: Response was provided to a dog complaint in the 300 block of South Third Street. Officers provided inspections of vehicle identification numbers. A warning was issued for a defective headlight. A delayed, non-injury accident was reported. A subject was removed from a residence in the 400 block of North Freeborn Street at the owner's request. A sheriff's deputy received assistance with an injury accident at 240th and Remington roads. A subject was arrested in the 200 block of South Third Street for DUI.
Saturday: An accident was investigated in the 1100 block of East Weldon Street. Response was provided to a complaint of a dog running at-large in the 200 block of Maple Street. A warning was issued to a driver for going the wrong way on a one-way street.
Sunday: A subject was arrested on a warrant. An officer responded to Marion Reservoir to assist in rescue operations of subjects in an overturned boat. A welfare check was conducted in the 500 block of Cleveland Street.
Officers drove 859 miles.
