Marion police issue nine warnings, make one arrest
Marion police had a typical week Sept. 15-21, with a great deal of variety in duties and calls.
Sept. 15 — An officer took a theft report. A complaint about an abandoned vehicle in a business parking lot was answered. A non-injury accident at Freeborn and Weldon was worked. An officer met with a person about civil papers.
Sept. 16 — A forgery case was investigated. An officer served a junk-vehicle letter. An assault incident was investigated.
Sept. 17 — A battery complaint was investigated. An officer conducted a welfare check on a child for the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services.
Thursday — An officer was in Peabody for training. A theft was investigated.
Friday — An officer investigated a report that unlicensed salesmen were operating in Marion. He found one such person and made that person purchase a permit.
Saturday — A speeding warning was issued. Five warnings for curfew violation were issued. A non-injury accident was investigated. An officer met with two youths about proper safety requirements for electric scooters. Officers aided the sheriff's department in investigation of an injury accident.
Sunday — An officer investigated an attempted break-in. An officer met with a person about an assault. A speeding warning was issued. An officer found a vehicle with its doors open in the 100 block of North Roosevelt. He checked with the owner, and everything was OK.
Police Chief Michel Soyez told city commissioners Monday that police drove 441 miles during the week. Nine warning citations were issued, and one person was arrested.
