Marion police officers provide assistance at Chingawassa festival

Marion Police Officers spent the weekend of June 3-4 assisting with the Chingawassa Days festival at Central Park, Marion.

June 2: A report of criminal damage to property was reported by a business in the 600 block of East Main Street, Marion. A lost motorist received assistance. Assistance also was given to a motorist with vehicle problems. Officers were in Central Park to assist with a concert during Chingawassa Days.

June 3: Officers assisted with Chingawassa Days by providing traffic control during the rhino run and bed races, an escort for a motorcycle poker run, patrolled park, sponsored a dodge ball tournament, and assisted with security at the evening concert. Response was given to a report of a child out-of-control in the park. An abandoned vehicle was checked in the county. A warning was issued for loud music from a vehicle. A lost motorist received assistance. An officer met with a subject regarding a fireworks complaint. A lost cell phone was reported. A warning was issued to a subject for possession of alcohol in the park.

June 4: A lost motorist received assistance. Criminal damage to property in the 300 block of South Third Street was investigated. Open business doors were located; the buildings were checked and secured. Two subjects were reported arguing at Marion High School; the argument was not physical and the subjects left the scene.

June 5: An officer met with a subject regarding a civil matter. An ambulance crew received assistance on a run. Traffic control was provided in the 100 block of South Cedar Street when a tree fell and blocked the street. A child's lost bicycle was picked up in the 700 block of South Freeborn Street and returned to its owner. A subject met with an officer regarding telephone harassment. A report of a lost cell phone was made. A civil process paper was served.

June 6: A civil process paper was served. A lost cell phone was reported. A business door was discovered open; the building was checked and secured.

June 7: A theft was reported in the 400 block of North Fourth Street. A warning was issued to a resident in the 400 block of North Fourth Street for exceeding the number of dogs allowed by the city.

Thursday: An officer met with an outside agency regarding a wanted subject. Officers received training on new computer equipment and attended a meeting at the police department.

Officers drove 842 miles, and issued three warning citations.
