Marion REC plans summer schedule

From golf to baseball to photography, Marion/USD 408 REC has planned its summer schedule.

Blast ball will be offered for three and four-year-old girls and boys each Wednesday in June. Games are at 5:30 p.m. on D field at Marion Baseball/Softball Complex. Maximum team size is 12 players. The fee for each child is $12, which includes a shirt. Include shirt size with registration. Final registration date is May 2.

Junior golf also will start in June for girls and boys ages eight to 18. The classes will run from 9-11 a.m. June 12, 14, 16, 19, 21 and 23. Marion High School golf coach Rex Ostmeyer will be the instructor. Registration fee is $15. Golfers must register with Ostmeyer by May 23 by calling him at (620) 382-2168 or (620) 382-2879.

Adults will have their chance at golf instruction as well. Jack Webb will instruct a clinic from 5:30-6:30 p.m. June 12-16. To register call Webb at (620) 382-362. Registration fee is $20.

Tryouts for summer theater will be in late May for productions in June. The program is for second through eighth grade students, and volunteers are needed. The fee is $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child. For more information call Cathy Whitaker at (620) 382-2910.

Molly Rhodes and Bill Lundy will be coaching the swim team this summer. A meeting later this spring will explain the league in more detail. A $25 fee (without swimsuit) will be required during registration which ends May 1. Buses will be provided to each meet. A digital photography class at Butler of Marion will be taught June 17 and 24 by photographer Lee Becker. The class will teach the basics of digital photography and answer any questions you might have. During registration please specify the type of camera you will be using, and what you would like to learn at the class. Registration is limited to 15 people per class and ends June 1. A fee of $10 will be required.
