Marion wrestlers finish third at MCAA meet

With regional and state action just around the corner, the Marion High School wrestling team racked up a third-place finish Saturday at the MCAA league meet in Haven.
"We wrestled really well this weekend," head coach Chad Adkins said. "We are really looking forward to the regional and state tournament."
The Warriors have reason to be optimistic. The team combined to score 125 points at the weekend's competitive contest.
Marion's Steven Boone and Drew Looper both finished first in their respective weight divisions at the Haven meet, while Chris Freeby, Riley Ross, and Chelsea Arnhold each finished second. Casey Nelson and Gavin Moore finished third, and John Barr and Dallas Wells finished fourth.

Remington/Chase County
The Warriors picked up wins over Remington and Chase County Thursday at home defeating the teams by a combined score of 94-45. Marion upended the Bulldogs of Chase County 54-18 and the Broncos from Remington 40-27.
"We wrestled well tonight," Adkins said. "Things are starting to come together for us. It's happening at the right time and we're peaking at the right time."

Remington — Ross won by forfeit, Arnhold won by forfeit, Barr won by forfeit, Leppke won by forfeit, Moore won by forfeit; Nelson won by forfeit; Bowers won by forfeit; Boone defeated Whiteside 6-0; Freeby won by forfeit.
Chase County — Ross defeated Eidman 6-0; Arnhold defeated Bower 6-0; Barr won by forfeit; Moore defeated Boyd 6-0; Nelson defeated Martin 4-0; Boone defeated Harris 6-0; Looper won by forfeit.
