Marjorie Endres

Marjorie L. Endres, 72, former chief teller at Central National Bank in Marion, died at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita Aug. 24, 2003.

The well known and highly admired frequent volunteer in her church and community lost a long battle with cancer. She had been a stalwart volunteer serving the local unit of the American Cancer Society.

Following her retirement from the bank, she served the public at Marion City Library. Other hobbies included sewing, rug hooking, counted cross stitch, and quilting. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting and school events, where she was their number one fan.

The daughter of the late Herman and Helen (Nightingale) Androes, she was born born Aug. 24, 1931, at Wichita. She died on her 72nd birthday.

On July 3, 1964, she was married to George Endres at Newton. He was a farmer in the Marion community where they made their home and raised their family. He died, also from cancer, Feb. 24, 2002.

Survivors include one son, Joe Endres of Emporia; daughters Sharon Andes of Galva, Donna Dearmore of Overland Park, Patricia Hajek of Houston, Texas, Mary Haagenson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Ruth Smith of Wichita, and Lori Kirkpatrick, Peabody; brother, William Androes of Hiawasse, Ark., sister, Marcella Travis of Douglass; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be recited tonight (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish, Marion.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with Father Steve Gronert and Father Paul Oborny officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Florence.

Memorial funds have been established with Victory in the Valley, Holy Family Parish, and Marion City Library.
