Mary A. Nelson
Mary A. Nelson, 82, Topeka, died June 25, 2003, at a hospice.
Born April 18, 1921, at Lyons, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Olga (Wahl) Jinks.
She graduated from Florence High School and Hutchinson Business College.
She married Howard H. Nelson on Sept. 5, 1942, in El Dorado. He died June 25, 1989.
During World War II she worked at Cessna Aircraft plant in Wichita.
She was involved in community activities including PTA, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandee Franz of Denver, Colo., and Connie Nelson of Topeka; son, Doug Nelson of Parsons; sister, Polly Smith, Topeka; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, Henry, Joe, Al, and Wilb Jinks and sisters Esther Thurman and Dorothy Alder.
Services were held Monday morning at Mount Hope Chapel with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
The Rev. Joan Porter officiated.
