Mary Herbert
Mary Gertrude Herbert, 93, of Wichita, died Jan. 14, 2008.
Born April 16, 1914, at Osborne, she was the daughter of James and Mary Grubb.
She grew up in Marion and graduated in 1931 from Marion High School.
On May 27, 1934, she married Douglas Herbert.
They lived in Marion until 1952, then moved to Wichita. In 1966, they moved to a farm near Rose Hill, living there for the next 25 years. In 1992, they returned to Wichita. After her husband's death in 1998, she moved to the Kansas Masonic Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; parents; four brothers, George, Richard, Jack, and Daniel; sister, Elizabeth Hiebert; and infant twins, John and Joan.
Survivors include four daughters, Diana Warner and Billie Schroeder of Lincoln, Neb., Sylvia Steinshouwer and Christine Spreier of Wichita; son, Charles Herbert of Overland Park; sister, Edna Toews of Inman; brother, James Grubb of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Greenwood Cemetery, Wichita.
