Maurice Ecker
Maurice W. Ecker, 77, died May 2, 2003, at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita.
Born June 9, 1925, at Marion, he was the son of the late Clinton James and Hazel (Smith) Ecker.
He was a popular owner/operator of a recreation hall for many years in Marion before retiring for health reasons.
Survivors include three brothers, Robert of New Orleans, La., Dale of Redwood City, Calif., and Don of Wichita; a sister, Eileen Voth of Ellinwood; and several nieces and nephews.
A combat veteran of service in the Navy during the South Pacific campaigns of World War II, he was an electrician's mate third class at the time of his discharge May 13, 1946. He served aboard the USS McCracken.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwich United Methodist Church, Wichita, with Chaplain Mark McDonald officiating.
A memorial fund has been established with the Kansas Veterans Home, Winfield.
