Max Carr
Max E. Carr, 85, of Marion, died July 2, 2006, at St. Luke Hospital.
Born June 16, 1921, at Aulne, he was the son of William and Bertha Dell (Willey) Carr.
He grew up in Marion County and attended District 22 school.
On Aug. 3, 1940, he married Wanda Herzet at Florence. The couple made their home in Marion, Florence, and Potwin before moving to a farm near Marion in 1952. In 1963, they moved to Marion.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a self-employed construction contractor.
He was a member and trustee of Eastmoor United Methodist Church and Hillsboro American Legion Post #366.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elston; sister, Thayes Carr; and a grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Marion; seven sons, William and Rosalie Carr of Jetmore, Thomas and Marsha Carr of Wichita, Max and Donna Carr Jr. of Andover, James and Kathy Carr of Hillsboro, and David and Nina Carr, Patrick and Ann Carr, and Michael Carr, all of Marion; three daughters, Jeanne and Robert Higgins of Prescott, Ariz., Susan and Frank Wheeler of Wichita, and Nancy and David Day of Valley Center; 30 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion, with the Rev. Michael Eurit officiating.
Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.
Memorial funds have been established with St. Luke Foundation or Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
