Max Herzets to celebrate 50th anniversary years ago

Max and Jacque Herzet of Wichita will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 11, 2003.

Max Lee Herzet, formerly of Marion, and Jacqueline Balzer, formerly of Hillsboro, were married Dec. 11, 1953, at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Hillsboro, the Rev. B. J. Boehringer officiated.

Max is a graduate of Wichita State University and was senior vice president of Mid-Kansas Federal Savings and Loan in Wichita. He retired after 38 years of service to the organization. Jacque is a homemaker.

They owned two cabins at Marion Lake and spent many weekends and holidays at the lake.

They have been members of College Hill United Methodist Church for more than 40 years and are active in the church.

The couple has four children: Greg and Sandra Herzet of Sedgwick; Brad and DeAne Herzet of Derby; Jeff and Nikki Herzet of Wichita; and Beth and Alan Davis of Wichita. They have 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Since retirement, the Hertzets remain active in the Wichita community volunteering at Exploration Place, Botanica, and Urban Ministries.

The couple will celebrate their anniversary with a family dinner Dec. 6 at a Wichita restaurant. The family also gathered in November at Beaver Lake to spend a weekend together. Max and Jacque celebrated their anniversary with a September trip to New York City.
