Roseva McLinden returned Friday from a Sunflower tour to Branson Mo. She enjoyed visiting with people she knew and making new friends. She especially enjoyed all the shows.

Jeannine Bateman visited her mother Alvina Skibbe Tuesday in Newton. Kristine Bateman came home Thursday to have a family picture taken for the Strassburg Baptist Church directory and spent the weekend with her mother just having fun. They often do yard work or something in this nature but this time they took in a movie and just played.

Skip and Eileen Sieger took in the Marion County Aviation Assoc. meeting Friday at the Marion Airport. The speaker was Kay Alley from Wichita. She is a Ferry Pilot and showed slides of a Cessna Caravan that she delivered to Bangkok, Thailand. It was interesting to hear of the many fuel stops on the way. She has flown many miles delivering planes all over the world.

Ken and Margie Nienstedt went to Wichita Saturday and had lunch with their son Theron and his daughter Braden.

Youngtown FCE met at McGillicuddy's last Tuesday for lunch and a report on the district meeting in Hays that Roseva McLinden and Gertie Mahoney had attended. They brought the recipe that I had promised for frozen biscuits. One cup of whipping cream, one tablespoon of sugar, and one and three fourths cups of sifted self-rising flour. Shape into dough, roll out, and cut into biscuits and freeze. If you wish to bake them instead of freezing, do so in a 450 degree oven for 10 minutes. If you choose to bake them after they have been frozen, do so in a 375 degree oven for 18 to 20 minutes.

Roy and Rose Olive Hett and Paul and Jane Hett of Parsons drove to Abilene Wednesday to visit their sister Elma Piper. They had dinner in a big farm house restaurant and spent the afternoon visiting. Glen Hett drove his parents Sunday afternoon over the new K-150. Roy hadn't seen it and wished to, so Glen took them over it and down to Florence and back home.

Betty Ireland attended church with me Sunday morning and then we ate dinner together at Kingfisher's Inn.

We received word here in the Youngtown community of the death of Josie Geisbrect Friday. Funeral services were Tuesday at the Methodist church in Florence. Josie was a member of both our Youngtown UMW and Youngtown FCE when I moved out here. We always looked forward to her being hostess for both events because she served doughnuts and sweet rolls from their bakery. Josie helped with the farm sales in FCE and brought the best custard and black walnut pies. I always could buy black walnuts in the fall from her when they lived in this community. Josie was a past president of Youngtown FCE and will be missed by us all.

Vicki Smolik and Edmund Steiner visited Friday afternoon with Elnora Ehlers in Newton. Elnora has just recently lost her husband.

I baked a pear pie Friday with some of the pears Vicki Smolik gave me for the Eastmoor quilters. Phyliss Enos told me to make it just like I would an apple pie and people would think it was an apple pie. It is amazing how much it tasted like an apple pie.

David and Shirley Bowers were Monday night supper guests of Doug and Janelle Paden, Matthew, Abigail, and Jonathan in Newton.

Clint and Dianna Jost visited Cy and L.Dena Goertz Sunday evening.
