Melvin Luallen

Melvin J. "Buster" Luallen, 48, died Dec. 29, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born March 28, 1953, in Compton, Calif. He moved with his parents from Missouri to Florence in 1968 and to Marion in 1996. He graduated from Marion High School in 1972.

He loved to play board and card games. He especially admired John Wayne and the music of Elvis Presley.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Parish.

Survivors include his parents, H.D. and Thelma (Thorburn) Luallen of Marion; two brothers, Hubert of Hobbs, N.M. and Charlie of Orange, Calif.; and a sister, Catherine Hunter of Marion.

Visitation was held Dec. 31, 2001, at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion. A graveside service was held Thursday morning at Campbell Cemetery in Russellville, Mo.

Casket bearers were Bert Luallen, Charlie Luallen, Paul Thompson, Melvin Thorburn, Joe Moore, and Dan Calvin.

A memorial fund has been established with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
