After 27 years of serving Marion and those travelers who passed through the town, Harry and Irene Weibert have sold the Owl Car Café. The new owners, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Pontious, Lost Springs, will take over after Harry and Irene step out March 31.

Merlin L. (Jerry) Murray, 47, superintendent of schools at Macksville, has announced he will sign a two-year contract to become superintendent of schools in Marion Unified District No. 408. Murray will assume the post August 1.

Marion newest commercial expansion, Goodyear Farm Tire Center, is officially open for business. It is located in the Cottonwood Valley Saddle Horse Association building adjoining Marion Sports Complex. Employees are Tom Castrop, manager; Dwight Zook, assistant manager; and Warren Kreutziger and Gene Winkler , service men.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin, Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Beth, to Greg Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers, Marion. A summer wedding is planned.

Mark Rathert, Marion, is a member of the golf team at Butler County Community Junior College, El Dorado. The golfing Grizzlies will first see action March 30 at Arkansas City.

Two Marion area students are listed in the 1973 baseball guide released this week by the Kansas State University sports information office. Dave Klenda, senior, is listed as one of the returning players, and Gary Holub, freshman, is listed as a "rookie with a future."

The former auto sales building at the junction of U.S.-50 and U.S.-77 near Florence will be fully re-equipped as a restaurant within three weeks, according to owner J.B. Noll, Concordia, a former Florence auto dealer.
