The Tulsa District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced plans for a public meeting about the proposed Marion Flood Control Project. The meeting is scheduled for May 24 and will be "to afford all interested parties an opportunity to comment of the selected plan," Col. John G. Driskill, district engineer, said.
"Surely the finest choir in Kansas," was the comment of judges when Marion High School musicians attended the State Music Festival in Wichita Friday and Saturday. Other comments by judges included "outstanding musicians" and explanations the "one-plus" was a rating that is seldom given, but could not be denied the Marion High musicians.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mushrush, Elmdale, announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara, to Ricky Hanschu, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Hanschu, Ramona. The couple plans an August wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Good left April 13 on a tour to Hawaii. They were accompanied by her brother, Burke Wilcox and Mrs. Wilcox of Wichita and her sister, Mrs. Max Pennick and Mr. Pennick of Hutchinson. They visited another brother, Paul Wilcox and family and Mrs. Peggy Ashdown, Kirsten and Karen in Hawaii.
Explorer Scouts from Marion attended a fishing contest at Quivera Scout Ranch near Sedan Saturday and Sunday. Mike Ewert placed second in both the largest stringer of bass and in the largest bass category. Other scouts who entered were Terry Holt, Roger Schmidtberger, Ron Wunsch, and Daryl Enos.
